Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

SCA Philanthropic and charitable fund

This is an exclusive fund under the SCA for extending financial assistance to the poor. SCA charitable fund was formally launched by Mar Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil, Arch Diocese of Syro Malabar Church on 17-01-2002. This fund is being utilized for providing financial aid to the poor and the needy of the society.

Source of Income

Membership fees and donations from members and their charity mind friends and relatives are the main source of income. SCA accepts contributions from Members and non -members. Contributions made to SCA charitable fund is eligible to get deduction under 80 G of the Income tax Act.

Charitable Fund utilization

  • Financial help has been provided on a regular basis to the sick and old people among the lower layers of the society.
  • Conducting periodic medical camps in collaboration with corporate hospitals, for the benefit of members and non- members.
  • Providing monetary assistance for the marriage of girls belongs to poor families.
  • Financial assistance has been provided to meet the construction cost of residential houses for the homeless poor in Kakkanad
  • Providing monetary assistance to cancer patients, diabetic patients, heart patients and other seriously sick people on a regular monthly basis.
  • Financial help was provided to the landslide victims of Kavalappara in Malappuram district.
  • Financial support has been provided to Charitable institution in Kakkanad that runs a home for physically challenged children.
  • Provided wheel chair to physically challenged poor people.
  • conducting spoken English classes for the benefit of children belonging to socially backward communities.
  • Yoga classes and Karate training are being conducted regularly for members and non-
    members.

SCA Charity

SCA has a dedicated group of people in its Charity Committee who receives requests for help, enquires the veracities of the request, assesses and recommends the quantum of help the Association could provide, and gets approval from the Association’s president for financial transactions. Regular financial assistance on a monthly basis, has been provided to patients suffering from cancer, diabetics, coronary disease or similar chronic afflictions. Lump some payments have been provided for liver or kidney transplantations and cardiovascular surgeries.

The Association have been providing financial support to the hapless poor people affected by natural calamity, such as flood and landslide, in Kerala.

The Association conducts medical camps at its premises, in coordination with major hospitals in Kochi.

Imparting education to the children belonging to the lower strata of the society is another area of the Association’s charity activity. Educating the youth on the dangers of alcohol and drugs is another task that the Association has undertaken.

CSR Activities

SCA started in the year 1999. The founder members of SCA, has the vision to help the needy and the poor in the society. Last 24 years SCA and its governing council have a non-profit strategic plan to fulfil their vision.

To expand our action plan to help the needy. In this jubilee year we carry forward with new ambitious projects like Home for the homeless and old age care centre for poor, with the help the CSR fund of corporate bodies.

SCA got approval for registration of the entities for undertaking CSR Activities from Government of India, Ministry of the corporate Affairs, office of the registrar of companies. SCA is also registered under NITI Ayog.
